It’s a simple, yet effective and underutilised means to improving the creative thought process- get off your bum and get some exercise! Yet it took a chance meeting with a colleague who needed to walk her dogs at the same time which led Nilofer Merchant to embrace the idea of walking meetings. In this talk, she suggests that we all do the same.
The health benefits of inactivity are well documented. Breast cancer, colon cancer, type two diabetes and heart disease are all strongly linked to physical inactivity. We spend an average of nine hours daily sitting, which is longer than we are asleep! Through inviting her colleagues to take a walk with her, Merchant has not only managed to improve her ability to think outside the box, but she manages to cover 20- 30 miles weekly doing so. Her bottom line? Walk the talk.
